EMBRYONAL RHABDOMYOSARCOMA OF THE URINARY BLADDER IN AN ADULT FEMALE: A RARE DIAGNOSTIC AND SURGICAL CHALLENGE
Embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma (ERMS) of the urinary bladder is exceptionally rare in adults and often mimics benign lesions. We report a case of a 27-year-old female presenting with haematuria and recurrent polypoidal growths. Initial biopsy was misdiagnosed as a cavernous haemangiomatous polyp. Imaging revealed a heterogeneous mass occupying the bladder lumen. A radical cystectomy was performed, and histopathology revealed a malignant spindle cell neoplasm with rhabdomyoblastic differentiation. Immunohistochemistry confirmed ERMS. This case highlights the diagnostic challenge posed by limited sampling and emphasizes the need for immunohistochemistry and surgical intervention in suspicious lesions.
