Validation results of the coronary artery disease education questionnaire (cade-q-sv) in patients after percutaneous coronary intervention
Objective: To evaluate the validity and reliability of the Vietnamese version of the Coronary Artery Disease Education Questionnaire- Short Version (CADE‑Q‑SV) in patients following percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Methods: The Vietnamese CADE‑Q‑SV was tested on 50 patients with coronary artery disease undergoing their first PCI at Hanoi Heart Hospital. The process included four steps: 1) finalizing the questionnaire; 2) pilot testing; 3) assessing reliability via Cronbach’s alpha and test–retest stability; and 4) evaluating construct validity by correlating questionnaire scores with patient characteristics. Results: Among participants (n = 50), 72% were male and 28% female, with a mean age of 66.6 ± 12.9 years. There was no significant association between demographic characteristics and knowledge level (p > 0.05). However, smoking status, alcohol consumption, and physical activity were significantly correlated with patient knowledge (p < 0.05). The overall Cronbach’s alpha for the 20-item questionnaire was 0.792; all item-total correlations exceeded 0.300. Cronbach’s alpha for the medical/emotional domain was 0.695, and for the nutrition/physical domain, 0.714. All items demonstrated a Kappa coefficient ≥ 0.64 (p < 0.001) among post‑PCI patients. Conclusion: The Vietnamese version of the CADE‑Q‑SV is a valid and reliable tool for assessing educational needs in patients after percutaneous coronary intervention.
