O primo Basílio no "Grande Tempo": uma leitura bakhtiniana sobre o romance de Eça de Queirós

This paper carries out a theoretical and critical reading of the novel O primo Basílio (1878) by Eça de Queirós (1845-1900), in light of the theoretical and philosophical bibliography of Mikhail Bakhtin (2010; 2011; 2017; 2018; 2023), with regard to the concept of “the great time” and the notions surrounding “chronotopic images” in novelistic literature. Our analysis is conducted in dialogue with Erich Auerbach (2019), concerning realistic representation in 19th century, as well as with Wolfgang Kayser (1986), in the reflections the author develops on grotesque aesthetics in fiction literature.
