IADR–APR 2025, New Delhi: Advancing Dental Research for the Asia–Pacific and Beyond
It is with great pride and anticipation that we welcome colleagues, researchers, clinicians, and students from across the Asia–Pacific region and the world to the upcoming International Association for Dental Research – Asia Pacific Region (IADR–APR) Conference, scheduled to be held in New Delhi from 19th to 21st September 2025. The Asia–Pacific region holds a place of unique significance in global dentistry. With more than two-thirds of the world’s population residing in this region, the impact of our collective efforts in oral health education, clinical care, and research reverberates far beyond national borders. Yet, despite this numerical strength, the oral disease burden in Asia remains disproportionately high. As highlighted and well researched, oral diseases across Asia continue to present an immense public health challenge, driven by factors such as limited access to affordable care, high prevalence of dental caries and periodontal diseases, rising oral cancer incidence, and inequities in oral health delivery. It is precisely in this context that the role of IADR, and in particular the IADR–APR meeting, becomes invaluable. Through rigorous scientific exchange, collaboration, and the fostering of young investigators, IADR provides a unique platform to bridge knowledge gaps, stimulate innovation, and translate discoveries into better prevention and treatment strategies. Meetings such as this create fertile ground for the exchange of ideas—from molecular science to community health research, from biomaterials to digital innovations in dentistry. Importantly, they also strengthen networks across borders, uniting researchers with policymakers and clinicians to collectively address oral health inequities. The benefits of such gatherings are manifold. For young researchers, they offer mentorship and global exposure. For clinicians, they highlight evidence-based advances ready for translation into practice. For academics, they create opportunities to establish partnerships and build sustainable research ecosystems. Above all, they re-affirm a common commitment: to reduce the oral disease burden that continues to weigh heavily on our societies. As New Delhi prepares to host this landmark event, we extend a warm and heartfelt welcome to all attendees. Let this meeting not only showcase the best of dental research but also serve as a catalyst for long-term collaborations that will advance oral health across the Asia–Pacific and beyond. We look forward to engaging discussions, innovative science, and the collective resolve of the dental research community in addressing the challenges ahead. Together, through research and shared knowledge, we can make tangible strides in reducing the oral disease burden and improving quality of life for millions.
