Neuroplasticity and Its Role in Occupational Rehabilitation
The ability of the brain to change and adapt throughout life by forming new connections is neuroplasticity; playing a crucial role in assisting humans in recovery after neurological events such as strokes, brain injuries, and diseases that affect the nervous system. This paper discusses how meaningful activities can aid in promoting recovery through neuroplasticity in rehabilitation settings. Through evidence-based practices in occupational therapy and neurorehabilitation, the treatment discussion is focused on the importance of individualized treatment plans geared toward using neuroplasticity to help restore the ability lost to promote neural recovery and functional independence, thus evolving into a great quality care of life.
