ANALYSIS OF FACTORS CAUSING TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS IN THE KM 45 SICINCIN AREA, PADANG PARIAMAN REGENCY
Highways are designed to provide safety, comfort, security, and efficiency, yet many traffic accidents still occur in Indonesia. This demonstrates that road safety must be viewed comprehensively from the planning stage through construction to ensure roads meet the requirements of safety, comfort, and efficiency. This study aims to identify the factors contributing to potential traffic accidents related to road planning, thereby providing recommendations for safety improvements to reduce the number of accidents. The research method was conducted through a survey/descriptive to identify the causes of accidents, then analyzed using the SPSS version 21 program. The analysis aims to find the relationship between variables that were initially independent, namely humans (drivers), vehicles, roads, and the environment, so that the most dominant group of variables influencing the potential for accidents is obtained. The case study was conducted on the KM 45 Sicincin road section, Padang Pariaman Regency. The research results show the three highest ranking causes of traffic accidents, namely: (1) incomplete vehicle parts, (2) environmental density, and (3) road pavement conditions. These findings are expected to be the basis for road planning that is more safety-oriented.
