S18-01 Presenting International Liason Group on Methods for Risk Assesment in Food

The International Liaison Group on Methods for Risk Assessment of Chemicals in Foods and Feeds (ILMERAC)plays a central role in advancing global research and regulatory science in chemical risk assessment methodologies. Established in 2018 as a partnership between FDA and ESFA, membership has now expanded to include OECD, JRC and agencies from over 25 countries. The organization facilitates global harmonization throughinternational collaboration on projects and meetings between regulatory agencies, academic experts, and industry stakeholders. A successful example of this collaboration is the focus on enhancing the credibility, relevance and robustness of new approach methods, including computation models, in vitro methods, and nonanimal testing strategies. Recently, workgroups have been established on two specific topics – microphysiological systems for chemical methods and in silico methodology. The purpose of these workgroups is to improve acceptance and reliability of these methods.

Established in 2018 as a partnership between FDA and ESFA, membership has now expanded to include OECD, JRC and agencies from over 25 countries.
