Biomechanical analysis of hemodynamic muscular pressure on the arterial blood vessel: Insights from computational modeling
The mechanical behavior of arterial blood vessels under muscular compression plays a critical role in the development of elevated blood pressure. The biomechanical environment resulting from such compression induces structural and functional changes in the vessel wall. These changes are influenced by mechanical properties such as stress relaxation, burst pressure at the valves, and dynamic biomechanical responses, all of which contribute to the non-linearity and hysteresis observed in blood flow. Persistent muscular contraction around the arteries may significantly increase arterial pressure, potentially leading to lifethreatening conditions. This study employs computational modeling to perform an in-depth biomechanical analysis, aiming to identify key physiological and mechanical factors contributing to abnormal arterial responses under muscle-induced pressure. The results reveal a hemodynamic factor of 6.6 × 10⁻⁷, which appears to mitigate the impact of elevated muscular pressure on arterial blood flow. These findings offer valuable insights for clinicians and researchers, enhancing the understanding of complex hemodynamic behaviors and aiding in the prediction and management of both physiological and pathological conditions. Furthermore, the study supports the development of improved diagnostic tools and therapeutic strategies for cardiovascular diseases.
