Nonlinear Numerical Analysis and Parametric Investigation of a Novel Outsourcing Ribbed Joint

ABSTRACT A new semi‐prefabricated outsourcing ribbed joint proposed based on the traditional outsourcing anchoring joint is suitable for storey addition and renovation projects. To thoroughly evaluate its seismic performance, a systematic analysis of the nonlinear behavior of the joint under low‐cycle reversed loading and the influence of key parameters on seismic performance was carried out based on the verification of finite element modeling methods. The results showed that the failure mode of the joint was the formation of plastic hinges at the beam ends, and the use of encased concrete and outer hoop steel plates in the joint region effectively confined the damage area from spreading into the core region, ensuring the continuity of the structural load path; the hysteresis curves were full, and the envelope area was large, indicating good energy dissipation capacity and bearing capacity. In contrast to the traditional outsourcing anchored joint, the advanced joint showed a significant improvement in its mechanical performance, with a 42.24% increase in ultimate load‐bearing capacity, a 28.96% rise in initial stiffness, and a 55% uplift in cumulative energy dissipation. The research also found that regulating the thickness and length of the outer hoop steel plates significantly enhanced the joint's mechanical performance, along with other critical performance indicators. The theoretical basis and technical support for the application and promotion of the new joint in practical engineering were provided by the above research results.
