Design of Vehicular Bidirectional Antenna Based on Vehicle to Vehicle Communication of Train

This article aims to design a vehicle mounted antenna that meets the direct wireless communication requirements between high-speed trains, to support Virtual Coupling and Wireless Train Backbone technologies, improve communication efficiency, and ensure train safety. Based on the Yagi antenna principle, this article uses CST electromagnetic simulation software to design a dual port high gain directional antenna, and studies the effects of using different antenna housing structure options on antenna performance during the simulation process. The overall size of the antenna is 300 mm X 118 mm × 87 mm, with a maximum gain of11.6 dBi, operating in the frequency range of 4.9-6 GHz, and a relative bandwidth of 20.2%, covering the high-frequency bands of Wi Fi 2/Wi Fi 5. The physical test results show that the antenna has good directional radiation characteristics and high gain, which can adapt to complex roof communication environments and meet the radiation performance requirements of high-speed train vehicle to vehicle communication systems.
