Exploring Movie Recommendation Systems: A Text Mining Based Overview
Human interaction is greatly influenced by internet technology in the modern day. Nonetheless, users are often overwhelmed by the huge amount of information available. Recommendation systems help users navigate through this information overload. To have a thorough overview of current movie recommendation systems, we conduct literature review by leveraging the power of text mining techniques. First, we collected scientific literature abstract dataset related to the movie recommendation systems. From the dataset, we use text mining to identify the most popular machine learning and deep learning techniques such as K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN), Support Vector Machines (SVM), Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) and autoencoders. Later, based on the mining result, we compared the recommendation performance of popular used machine learning and deep learning methodologies in movie recommendation systems. In addition, we also discuss the effectiveness of different movie recommendation system from the business point of view.
