AI Machine Vision Based Robotic Arm For Pre-University Education
Artificial Intelligence (AI) Machine Vision is a popular topic in pre-university STEM education as it is an important feature for motion control in machine automation such as robotic arms. This paper presents a recent robotic arm project which is based on AI Machine Vision. We used an Enhanced Arduino Shield Platform preloaded with AI functions for color and object size detection to control arm movement. Students learned basic robot principles and servo motor skills through an automated robotic arm for pick-and-place of objects. Students gained hands-on experience through this robotic arm project. The complete robotic arm kit provides a low-cost option for schools to teach STEM topics such as AI Machine Vision, servo motor control and coding.
