Neuroplasticity in Sustainable Engineering Education (Work in Progress)
This study examines the role of neuroplasticity in developing students' abilities to navigate the inherent uncertainties present in sustainable engineering projects. Rapidly evolving technologies, fluctuating market demands, and shifting regulations create these uncertainties. By understanding how individuals and teams learn to adapt to change, we aim to equip future engineers with the resilience and adaptability necessary to succeed in this dynamic environment. Furthermore, this study considers the critical role of stakeholder involvement in sustainable engineering initiatives. We explore how neuroplasticity-informed educational strategies can enhance students' capacity to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, understand their perspectives, and build consensus around sustainable solutions. The broader vision of this work is to contribute to the development of innovative teaching methodologies for sustainable engineering courses. By integrating principles of neuroplasticity into curriculum design and pedagogy, we aim to create learning experiences that not only impart technical knowledge but also cultivate the essential collaborative and adaptive skills required for success in the field. This research is in its initial stages, and future work will involve empirical studies to assess the effectiveness of neuroplasticity-informed interventions in enhancing student learning outcomes and collaborative capacity.
