Integrating Digital Transformation in Project Management Course for Undergraduates
Digital technologies have now been evolving at the highest speed the world has ever seen, thus creating an age of artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, clouds, Internet of Things (IoT), virtual, extended, and augmented realities, to name a few. These advanced digital technologies have transformed businesses, enterprises, and organizations via a process known as digital transformation, which has also caused the field of project management an inevitable transformation. Digital transformation has now become a critical part of modern project management. While classical (traditional) project management techniques have served businesses, enterprises, and organizations for a long time, advanced digital technologies are now reimagining all the phases and processes of classical project management ranging from product lifecycle, through project proposals, scheduling, and resource management, to transformational leadership for project managers and project teams. Such a transformation not only integrates digital technologies and tools into projects, but also redefines how project managers and project teams manage, collaborate, and achieve organizational goals. In this paper, we study how the concepts of digital transformation can be integrated into a classical project management course for undergraduates.
