Accurate Passenger Flow Control for Coordinating Multiple Stations on a Subway Line in Peak Hours

Duo to the transportation capacity constraint, the surged arrival passengers are increasingly accumulated on the platform in peak hours, which causes potential security problems. To enhance the service efficiency and lower accident risks, this paper put forward a coordinated and accurate passenger flow control (CAAPFC) strategy to solve the overcrowding on all station platforms of a subway line. Considering the time-dependent characteristics of passenger, a multi-objective model of CAAPFC is constructed, which aim to minimize the total waiting time and maximize the passenger turnover volume. The precise number of passengers with different OD trips that are allowed to enter the platform at each station could be obtained by the model, which can be a quantitative basis for passenger flow control at all of involved stations on the subway line. Finally, the constructed model is applied in the case study of Beijing subway Batong Line. The results indicate that zero passenger stranding could be achieved in each station of the subway line, the total passenger waiting time is decreased by 38.79 %, and the passenger turnover volume is lifted by <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\mathbf{2.6\%}$</tex>.
