Relationship between residual stress and fatigue performance of TC4 alloy components with different surface states
Abstract This paper focuses on the TC4 alloy flat tensile specimens and flat drilled specimens as the research objects, exploring the impact of different surface processing states on the residual stress and fatigue performance of titanium alloys. The results indicated that shot peening could significantly enhance the surface residual compressive stress, thereby improving fatigue performance. Among the specimens the surface residual compressive stress was highest in the shot-peened flat specimens, lowest in the annealed specimens, and moderate in the sandblasted specimens. Notably, the fatigue life significantly increased after shot peening.
