Designing digital twins for roundabouts

Abstract The article discusses the development of digital twins for traffic management at roundabouts through the integration of a physical object, a digital model and real-time communication. Mathematical models such as the Webster equation and the Brilon model are used. By simulating various traffic scenarios, including emergency situations, the digital twin supports decision-making for adaptive traffic regulation and road safety improvement. The methodology allows for realistic monitoring and forecasting, expanding the application of classical models in modern intelligent transport systems in the context of roundabouts. The results enrich the theoretical foundations and practical capabilities of digital twins in transport, stimulating future research and innovation in the field of urban mobility and safety.
