Optimalisasi Geopark Gulamo Sebagai Potensi Geowisata Berbasis Pemberdayaan Masyarakat

Purpose – The purpose of this community service is to map the geotourism potential of the Gulamo geopark. Gulamo Geopark, located in Tanjung Alai Village, Kampar Regency, has extraordinary natural potential with unique geological formations and enchanting natural beauty. This potential can be developed as a community-based geotourism destination, where local communities are actively involved in the management and utilization of natural resources in a sustainable manner. However, the lack of infrastructure, lack of promotion, and low community involvement are the main challenges in its development. This community service activity aims to optimize the utilization of Gulamo Geopark through strengthening infrastructure, digital-based promotion, and community empowerment in geotourism management. Design/methodology/approach – The main activity model of this community service is empowerment where the implementation is carried out using socialization, training, technology application, and evaluation methods. Findings – The results of the activities show an increase in community awareness through strengthening the capacity of human resources, developing supporting tourism infrastructure, increasing promotion and partnership networks, the importance of forming and strengthening local tourism institutions, preserving and conserving the environment and strengthening regular monitoring and evaluation. Originality/value – This study recommends a community-based empowerment model as a sustainability strategy in geotourism management.
