Design and Implementation of an On-Orbit Information Processing System for In-Situ Detection of Spaceborne Micro-Debris

With the rapid increase in the amount of space debris, millimeter-scale microparticles pose a serious threat to spacecraft safety. In response, this study designs and implements an onboard microparticle detection system, which utilizes the piezoelectric sensing principle to achieve multi-channel real-time signal acquisition and processing. The system employs a joint FPGA-MCU architecture, integrating adaptive filtering and event recognition algorithms. Ground-based simulation experiments have verified the system’s effective detection capability for microparticles, demonstrating high stability and strong potential for engineering applications.

Abstract

With the rapid increase in the amount of space debris, millimeter-scale microparticles pose a serious threat to spacecraft safety. In response, this study designs and implements an onboard microparticle detection system, which utilizes the piezoelectric sensing principle to achieve multi-channel real-time signal acquisition and processing. The system employs a joint FPGA-MCU architecture, integrating adaptive filtering and event recognition algorithms. Ground-based simulation experiments have verified the system’s effective detection capability for microparticles, demonstrating high stability and strong potential for engineering applications.
