Multidimensional Evaluation of a Convergence Design Thinking Program Using Farmbot : Agricultural ICT and Automation Education in Elementary Contexts

This study aims to develop and evaluate a future-oriented educational program for elementary school students that integrates agricultural ICT and design thinking using Farmbot. The program was designed based on the phases of design thinking—empathize, define, ideate, prototype, test, and share—emphasizing student-centered problem solving, hands-on activities combining technology and creativity, and iterative feedback. The participants included 60 upper-grade elementary students, 17 parents, and 3 instructors. A combination of pre- and post-program surveys, satisfaction evaluations, and qualitative feedback from instructors and parents was employed to analyze the program’s effectiveness both quantitatively and qualitatively. The quantitative results showed statistically significant improvements (p < .001) in students' self-efficacy, confidence in using technological tools, and creative problem-solving skills. Qualitative feedback from instructors and parents also reflected positive perceptions. These findings suggest that convergence design thinking education utilizing digital technologies can enhance elementary students’ creative competencies and future-oriented awareness.
