The Impact of Safety and Health Education on Workers' Unsafe Behavior at Construction Sites - Focusing on the Moderating Effect of Drone-Based Education
This study explores the moderating effect of drone-based safety and health education on reducing unsafe behavior—specifically human error and violation—among construction workers. Traditional training methods such as basic safety education, TBM, and new employee training are limited in effectiveness due to their theoretical delivery. To address this, the study applied visual, field-centered drone education to existing programs and examined its impact. A survey of 300 construction workers in the Seoul metropolitan area was conducted. Data were analyzed using the JAMOVI 2.6.26 program through moderation analyses. Independent variables were education types with or without drone application, the dependent variable was unsafe behavior, and the moderating variable was drone education. Results showed that drone-assisted TBM and new employee training significantly reduced unsafe behaviors. However, combining drones with basic safety education did not yield significant effects. These findings suggest that drone education is most effective when aligned with practical, site-based training. The study highlights the value of drones as supplementary tools in behavioral safety education and provides implications for policy and digital content development in construction safety.
