Investigation of the Orientation of Fiber Angles on the Concentration of Stress around Holes in Composite Laminate

In this paper, the simulation was used to compare the orientation effect of angles on the factor of stress concentration (SCF) related to a composite laminate consisting of four layers of flax fibers and polylactic acid (PLA) containing a circular central hole. In the simulation program, three stages are utilized. The first step involves entering the material properties into the program library. Through the RVE, a new material with distinct properties is produced by merging the two materials. In the second stage, the ACP (Prepost) drew and shaped the composite material with dimensions (300 * 120 * 30) mm and formed the layers at asymmetric orientation angles. In the final stage, the static structure was established to set the boundary conditions (force & fixed support) and obtain the results required for the study (Total & Directional) Deformation, and Max. Stress. Seven individual models were designed with asymmetric angles (0, 15, 30, 45, 60, 75, 90). Studying all the prepared models individually under a uniaxial force of a thousand newtons with the second side fixed and investigating the effect of orientation of the fiber angles on each of the total and directional deformation, maximum stress, stress concentration factor, and percentage error. Comparing all results from the study through graphical and analytical methods resulted in a good match for all prepared models and all angles.
