Assessment of Adherence to Exercise among Post-Operative Fracture Patients in Dhulikhel Hospital - A Cross-Sectional Study
Introduction: Adherence to prescribed exercise regimens is crucial for post-fracture recovery, yet various factors influence patient compliance. This study examines adherence levels among post-fracture patients at Dhulikhel Hospital, exploring demographic, clinical, and psychosocial determinants. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among post-fracture patients, assessing adherence to prescribed exercises. A total of 186 participants with age range of 18-60 years were included in the study. Data were analyzed using SPSS, employing descriptive statistics and inferential tests to examine associations between adherence and factors such as fracture site, age, gender, socioeconomic status, and other potential barriers. Results: The findings indicate that adherence rates vary significantly across different levels of socioeconomic status, where younger patients with higher socioeconomic status demonstrated better compliance. Adherence to exercise was also found to be associated with comorbidities. Common barriers to adherence included pain, lack of motivation, and time constraints. Conclusion: Understanding the compliance with prescribed exercise regimens; strategies such as patient education, motivation-enhancing techniques, and individualized rehabilitation plans may enhance adherence rates and optimize recovery outcomes. Future research should explore long-term adherence patterns and the effectiveness of intervention strategies in improving patient compliance
