Cartas de Liberdade (1885-1888) e a Resistência: Reflexões para o Ensino de História na Educação Profissional e Tecnológica

This article comes from research by the Postgraduate Program in Professional and Technological Education (ProfEPT) at IFFluminense, whose objective is to promote a study based on the letters of Freedom, documents from primary sources, located at the Documentation Center located in the Carangola/MG, at Bom Jesus do Itabapoana Campus, in order to contribute to the promotion of anti-racist education. The study methodology is based on bibliographical research, documentary research and field research. Based on an anti-racist education proposal, the investigation is materialized through a short course, structured in two distinct moments. The first focuses on the context from the occupation by the Lannes Family to the emancipation of Carangola, highlighting the historical facts related to the settlement of the region and slave relations. The second, through bibliographical research, classifies the Letters of Freedoom, in order to highlight the enslaved as subjects of the process, their forms of resistance and survival strategies. The results indicate that it is essential to present ethnic-racial issues from a different perspective, other than that of Europe, but capable of highlighting the cultural richness of African societies.
