Comparative analysis of global databases of medicines: Russian vs foreign

Introduction. Today, the world uses a large number of medical and pharmaceutical information systems that form databases. Drug-related databases and sources of information are particularly important, as they help different groups of information consumers make certain decisions. Aim. The aim of this work is to analyze and compare global drug-related databases available in Russia and around the world, as well as databases containing information on chemistry, biology, health sciences, and medicinal plants. Discussion. Within the framework of the article, we examined drug databases operating in Russia and around the world, related to drugs directly and indirectly. Information sources were compared and provided a brief description of each one. The review results are presented in table formats for further convenient use. Conclusions. As a result of the work done, we can conclude that there are a large number of databases and sources of information that either directly provide information about medicines, or affect only certain disciplines and contain scientific literature in such areas as biology, chemistry, medicine, pharmacognosy and many others. The study showed that foreign databases have a wider range of information and are updated more frequently, but Russian databases are not inferior in accuracy and reliability of the information provided, which makes them competitive. Thus, Russian and foreign databases have their own unique advantages and play an important role in providing high-quality research in the pharmaceutical field.
