ANÁLISE DE INCÊNDIO EM EDIFICAÇÃO RESIDENCIAL: ESTUDO DE CASO
This study aims to present a detailed technical analysis of the damages and root causes of a fire that occurred in a residential building in Manaus/AM, Brazil. The methodology employed included an in depth anamnesis and an in loco inspection to ascertain visual and sensory evidence. The investigation’s results indicated that the fire, initially focused in the kitchen area, possibly originated from failures in electrical installations, such as incorrectly wired outlets and circuit breakers that failed to trip. The fire’s propagation was exacerbated by deficiencies in the condominium’s fire suppression system, including malfunctioning water extinguishers (releasing dark residue) and hydrants operating with inadequate pressure. Furthermore, the absence of original electrical designs from the construction company and several non-conformities in the Main Distribution Panel (QDC) and outlet installations were observed, in disagreement with NBR 5410. The presence of cracks in reinforced concrete elements adjacent to the fire’s epicenter necessitates specific testing for a conclusive structural assessment. It is concluded that the incident revealed the existence of construction defects and critical failures in the maintenance and adequacy of electrical and fire safety systems, highlighting the urgent need for a comprehensive review and correction of these anomalies to ensure residents’ safety and the building’s integrity.
