John Rayner – A Memoir

Abstract John Rayner could be seen as an austere scholar but he was also perhaps a ‘holy’ man of wide interests, courage, moral stature and integrity. He was outspoken in his recognition of the need of Palestinians for justice and equality. But he also supported gays/lesbians in their campaigns for equal rights. The writer draws on his relationship with Rabbi Rayner over seventy years and John's deep and abiding influence.
