Full-Stokes terahertz meta-detector based on diatomic interference mechanism

Full-Stokes polarimetry allows for the comprehensive characterization of the polarization state of a wave, providing critical information that cannot be obtained through other measurement methods. However, conventional full-Stokes metasurfaces are unable to combine the polarization generation with wavefront manipulation within a single device. Herein, we propose a terahertz (THz) meta-detector based on the diatomic interference mechanism. The meta-detector consists of six individual sub-metasurfaces, each of which is capable of converting an unpolarized wave into the desired polarization state, thereby establishing a connection between the Stokes parameters and six focal points. Both simulated and experimental results demonstrate the high performance of the device. This work presents a feasible strategy for polarization detection and THz wavefront manipulation.
