Analysis of Interleaved Boost PFC based Dual Active Bridge Converter for EV Battery Charging
The paper develops a charging system which joins Interleaved PFC Boost Converter elements with Dual Active Bridge (DAB) Converter components. The Interleaved Power Factor Correction (PFC) boost converter fulfills essential roles through maintaining around unity power factor operation and Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) levels below 5% to fulfill requirements of IEC 61000-3-2 international standards. Such configuration enables better stability in the power grid operation which produces a more reliable electrical charging process. The DAB converter serves several functions in EV charging including energy conversion to battery power and electrical insulation and two-way power direction which enables its use in practical EV charging systems. The additional attributes increase both efficiency and flexibility which enable better performance when the charger operates in practical usage.
