Feasibility Analysis of Nylon 6 Material for Application in Sensor Packaging

As production advances, the requirements for encapsulating materials in magnetic sensing and environmental energy harvesting devices within transformers operating in complex environments are increasing. However, high-performance metal materials suffer from the drawback of electromagnetic shielding, while most polymer materials are prone to thermal-oxygen aging. This study investigates nylon 6 (polyamide) as a potential candidate. An artificial accelerated thermal aging test was performed in a drying oven at $115^{\circ} \mathrm{C}$. The mechanical properties of samples subjected to various aging durations were evaluated. It was found that the tensile strength of nylon 6 remained largely unchanged after 26 days of aging, preserving strong and stable mechanical characteristics. These results confirm the suitability of nylon 6 as an encapsulating material for transformer sensors.
