Distribution Network Reconfiguration using Cuckoo Search Algorithm

The Cuckoo Search Algorithm is a popular meta-heuristic optimization method for handling challenging optimization issues. It is inspired by the necessary brood parasitism phenomena, which occurs naturally in some cuckoo species when the birds deposit their eggs in other bird species nests. In the distribution network reconfiguration process, two popular switches tie and sectionalizing switches are purposefully changed to accomplish the intended goals. In this paper IEEE-33 and IEEE-69 distribution network has been used to validate the suggested method’s efficacy. Graph theory is used to guarantee radiality constraint compliance and reject impractical solutions. To assess the system's minimal per-unit (p.u.) voltage and power losses, four different scenarios are examined.
