An optimally tuned Error-based Active Disturbance Rejection Load Frequency Control

Disturbance rejection is the main concern in many of the industrial problems, which can be effectively handled Active Disturbance Rejection Control (ADRC). The power-system load-frequency control problem (LFC) is a typical case of disturbance rejection—the traditional ADRC results in improved performance for this problem, as established in the literature. However, ADRC is output-based, a deviation from conventional controllers, making it difficult for practicing engineers to adopt. As an alternative in this paper an Error-based ADRC (EADRC) is used for solving the same problem with an advantage of simplified design and easy implementation. Simulation studies are carried out on standard LFC problems and the superiority of EADRC is established in comparison with the existing controllers.
