An Efficient Multilevel Fault Tolerant Boost Inverter for Fuel Cell Applications

An efficient Multi-Level Fault-Tolerant Boost Inverter (MLFTBI) for the purpose of continued power supply in vital applications, reduced cost and efficient operation in commercial environment will be proposed in this work. Differing from those traditional designs using multiple sources and components, the proposed configuration features a single source, therefore less costly and much simplified. The MLFTBI topology ensures a seven-level output and provides 1.5-fold voltage boosting.; it continues to work at open-circuit faults by acting like a five-level output and using the reserved switches. The proposed MLFTBI has eight active switches, two diodes, two capacitors and three reserved switches, that is, fewer number of components compared to similar structures. Control signals are generated using level-shift PWM. The analysis for the proposed MLFTBI has been presented in the work under various operating conditions. And MATLAB/Simulink simulation results have presented to validate the design, demonstrating fault resilience and seamless transitions during fault conditions.
