Performance Analysis of Grid connected Household with Solar PV and Battery
Integrating Solar with batteries is essential for optimizing energy usage in grid-connected households, enhancing sustainability, and lessening reliance on traditional grid power. In this regard, this study examines the energy management of an Indian household equipped with a battery storage system and a grid linked solar photovoltaic setup. Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) technique is employed to optimize maximum power extraction from Photovoltaic (PV) system by adjusting voltage and current based on temperature and solar irradiation. An Energy Management Strategy (EMS) is designed to maintain a consistent power supply while minimizing dependency on the grid and lowering electricity costs. The analysis also considers household demand patterns, electrical price structures, and the fluctuation of solar irradiation and temperatures. The results reveal that a well-designed energy management system can maximize solar energy consumption, lower electricity bills substantially, and supply backup power during blackouts. Additionally, an economic and environmental analysis is conducted, demonstrating a notable decrease in energy prices and a substantial reduction in pollutant emissions when compared to a traditional grid system.
