Ultra-Wideband Quad Element MIMO Antenna
A quad-element MIMO antenna is proposed for 5G millimeter-wave (mm-wave) communication systems. Each antenna element in the proposed layout measures 12 x 10 mm2, and the radiator is constructed in a modified o-shape on a Rogers RT 5880 substrate. The MIMO system consists of four antenna elements organized in a polarization diversity arrangement, with an overall dimension of 24 × 24 mm2. With a partial ground plane and isolation of more than -26 dB between antenna elements, the simulated results yield a remarkable bandwidth of 17.6 GHz, spanning from 22.9 to 40.5 GHz, without the need for any decoupling network. These results show how the suggested MIMO antenna technology may be significant for 5G mm-wave wireless mobile communications.
