IoT Based Geyser with Grounding Detection and Prevention of Electric Shock - Geyser Guard

This paper introduces the design and implementation of an IoT-based safety system, "Geyser Guard," aimed at ensuring the secure operation of household geysers. The system emphasizes real-time monitoring of grounding status and the health of the heating element, both critical to preventing electrical hazards such as shocks or system malfunctions. It is implemented using a NodeMCU ESP8266 microcontroller that has an LDR for ground fault detection and an analog port to measure the resistance of the heating element. When the system detects any kind of anomaly such as a grounding fault or heating element degradation, it shuts off the geyser via a relay module for better safety and operational reliability. The system was tested rigorously, validating its reliability and real-world effectiveness, which gave a rapid fault response rate and consistent fault detection. The modular design supports scalability, which means that remote monitoring and cloud-based features can be integrated in the future. This innovative approach provides a cost-effective and efficient solution to improve household safety and contribute to smart home automation.
