Enhanced Electric Vehicle Charging Method Using IPSO MPPT with a Modified Boost Converter

With the growing adoption of Electric Vehicles (EVs), essential for effective and sustainable charging solutions has become increasingly important. Traditional charging techniques for EVs often face challenges in terms of energy efficiency and charging time. Henceforth, this research addresses the need for efficient EV charging solutions by integrating a Modified Boost Converter (MBC) with an Improved Particle Swarm Optimization (IPSO) Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) algorithm. The goal is to maximize energy efficiency by utilizing Renewable Energy Sources (RES), particularly through a Photovoltaic (PV) system. The IPSO MPPT method dynamically regulates the functioning point of PV source to optimize energy extraction under varying environmental conditions. Meanwhile, the MBC efficiently manages the output voltage for EV battery charging. Simulation results show that the proposed system enhances charging efficiency, reduces charging times, and improves overall performance compared to traditional methods, achieving an efficiency of 92% for the MBC. This integrated approach offers a sustainable and efficient solution for future EV charging infrastructure.
