Design and Analysis of Low Speed Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator for Electricity Generation from Moving Vehicles

The growing reliance on renewable energy, particularly wind and solar, presents efficiency challenges. While wind energy is more efficient than solar, its potential remains largely unexplored. One untapped resource is the wind generated by moving vehicles on highways. By installing small-scale wind turbines in roadway medians, where vehicles pass on both sides, this wind energy can be harnessed to rotate the turbine and generate electricity through a coupled PMSG generator. The produced energy can be used locally, promoting sustainability and enhancing renewable energy utilization. In this paper, the PMSG used as a coupled generator is analyzed in detail, and the findings are presented to highlight its performance and feasibility in such applications.
