An Integrated Circuit Design of Implantable Neural Stimulators
In order to scale down circuits to meet various medical and experimental purposes, there are numerous techniques that can be considered and adopted to bypass limitations caused by it. For instance, a biphasic waveform. This article introduced the basic principles and limitations of a certain type of implantable medical device: the neural stimulator. It introduced the design and principles of current mirrors based on integrated circuit technology. Furthermore, it discussed two specific circuit designs of neural stimulators: one ideal and one practical, and analyzed the principles and deviations of them. Last but not least, this article provided prospects to improve these circuit designs to be more suitable for practical usages.
