Effect Analysis of Gravity Energy Storage System on Improving Transient Stability of Power Grid in Cold Regions
The access of a large number of distributed power sources has changed the way that the user side only receives and consumes electricity from the power grid, but it may bring new transient stability problems to the power grid. Local dynamic compensation or utilization of energy storage system can effectively improve the transient stability of the power grid. Gravity energy storage system (GESS as short) has become a promising energy storage technology in cold regions due to its advantages of long service life, high environmental friendliness and low unit energy storage cost. The transient process of synchronous generator and induction motor in power grid is analyzed, the permanent magnet synchronous generator model and array topology of GESS are given, and the effect of GESS in improving power grid transient stability is verified in the simulation environment.
