In memoriam: Alan Howard, former Chief Executive Officer of the European Society of Cardiology

European Society of Cardiology (ESC), passed away on 11 May 2025, at the age of 80. Mr Howard studied law in his home country of England and began his career by founding and running his own consultancy firm.In 1986, he joined Medtronic, marking the start of his transition into the medical field.From 1999 to 2009, he served as CEO of the ESC, based at the European Heart House in Sofia Antipolis, France.Under Mr Howard's leadership, the ESC experienced significant growth in both our projects and workforce, contributing to our growing global influence.
