REVISÃO DO GÊNERO TURNERA COMO PLANTA MEDICINAL

Despite many scientific research on plants, not much is known about some genus such as Turnera and its species. This research aimed to gather information on the genus Turnera, its medicinal properties, studying scientific articles published in the last 26 years. This work is of a basic nature of evaluation, of the exploratory type, following a qualitative method following the protocol according to the PRISMA statement. This genus, which occurs in Brazil, has 105 species, with emphasis on popular medicine, Turnera diffusa, T. subulata and T. ulmifolia, in addition to being cultivated in almost the entire national territory for ornamental purposes and are part of the PANCs group of plants. However, these species are used in the treatment and cure of several chronic, gastrointestinal, respiratory, genital diseases, in the treatment of amenorrhea, dysmenorrhea, anti-inflammatory, antitumor and aphrodisiac, being also cited as an abortifacient although widely used in some regions of Brazil.
