Anti-amyloid therapies in the Brazilian public health system: challenges and barriers
The recent approval of donanemab by Brazil's National Health Surveillance Agency (Agência Nacional de Vigilância Sanitária - Anvisa) in 20251 was met with enthusiasm by much of the medical community and by families of individuals living with Alzheimer's disease (AD). It was based on the results of a clinical trial that showed statistically significant differences in the rate of cognitive decline among individuals with early-stage AD.2 However, the results did not reach the minimum clinically important difference (MCID).
