The SOLAR II study by Sadatsafavi et al (Am J Respir Crit Care Med 2025;211:1165-74; https://doi.org/10.1164/rccm.202501-0246OC) shows that biologic initiators had 18% lower risk of developing any oral corticosteroid (OCS)-related adverse outcome compared to noninitiators, primarily driven by the reduced risk of developing diabetes (by 38%), major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) (by 35%), and anxiety/depression (by 32%). The magnitude of rate reduction was comparable to those shown by available disease-specific agents for MACE and diabetes.
