Social portrait of regional political elites of the Russian Far East in the 1990s
The article discusses the social portrait of the political elite of the Far Eastern region during the years of systemic transformation of the management vertical. The recruitment mechanisms and value orientations of Far Eastern politicians are analyzed. The authors come to the following conclusion: the regional elite in the postSoviet period has changed due to new factors in the political process, primarily the introduction of the institution of “elections”. It was in the 1990s that the federal structure was transformed, and as a consequence of this process, there was an increase in the role of regional elites in the Russian Federation, as a result of which the relationship between the center and the territories of the Far East changed significantly.
