Einzelzellgenomik für Biodiversitätsforschung von unbekannten Arten

Abstract Much eukaryotic biodiversity, especially among fungi and microeukaryotes, remains unknown due to limited data and complex genomes. Standard metagenomics often fails with these “dark taxa.” A workflow using long-read sequencing, targeted primers, and laser microdissection enables genetic analysis of single cells. Tested on aquatic fungi, it yields barcodes and genomes, offering a new tool to reveal hidden microeukaryotic diversity by integrating microscopy and genomics.
