Research on Application of VR Drawing Test in Depression Assessment of College Students

This study aims to explore the feasibility of applying a virtual reality drawing test for depression assessment among university students. In our work, we recruited 209 college students to participate in the assessment using the Self-Rating Depression Scale (SDS) and the VR Drawing Test. The correlation between drawing features and depression is characterized by extracting the frequency and regression coefficient of painting features. VR painting shows statistically significant results in the shaded (messy lines) canopy and the tree sense of balance. In particular, P = 0.037 in the shaded (messy lines) canopy and P=0.024 in the tree sense of balance. The findings indicate that VR drawing tests can effectively assist college students in assessing depression and have innovative application value. Furthermore, it can provide a data basis for the further application of VR drawing tests in clinical psychological testing.
