Self-assembly configuration of 1D/2D Bi₂S₃/ReS₂ heterojunction grown on Ti substrate and its photocatalytic synergistic enhancement mechanism
Traditional powder photocatalysts have some limitations in wastewater degradation (e.g., recycling difficulties). Considering that ReS 2 is a special transition metal Dichalcogenide (TMDs) material, and due to its low dependence on the growth substrate and as a narrow bandgap direct bandgap semiconductor material, most of the existing modification methods have been carried out by a multistep hydrothermal method. In this research, we synthesized Bi 2 S 3 /ReS 2 double-S heterojunction photocatalytic material grown on Ti substrate, which degraded 86.21 % of methylene blue (MB) in 60 min, and increased its photocatalytic activity by 1.26 times compared with pure ReS 2 . In addition, this heterogeneous structure could effectively eliminate bacteria by generating reactive oxygen species (ROS) and synergistically releasing Bi ions. The photocatalytic sterilization experiments showed excellent photocatalytic antimicrobial efficiencies against Staphylococcus aureus ( S . aureus) and Escherichia coli ( E . coli) after 60 min of light exposure, suggesting its viability as an eco-friendly alternative for biological disinfection in wastewater treatment. • First Bi₂S₃/ReS₂/Ti double-S-scheme heterojunction via one-step hydrothermal synthesis. • x%Bi 2 S 3 -ReS 2 heterostructure is ReS 2 nanoflakes encapsulated on Bi₂S₃ nanorods. • 86.21 % MB degradation & 99.5 % bacterial inactivation in 60 min (dual-function).
