Backscatter Networking an Innovative Approach to Low-Power Communication
The demand of internet connectivity is increasing with significant challenges, in terms of energy consumption and scalability. Traditional wireless communication system depends on active transmitters that require feasible power and restrict the use of low power devices. To reduce these challenges, backscatter networking introduced. Backscatter networking represents a transformative approach to low-power wireless communication. By leveraging existing Radio Frequency (RF) signals for data transmission, this technology significantly reduces energy consumption, enabling a excess of applications in the Internet of Things (IoT), environmental monitoring, and smart cities. This paper describes the core principles of backscatter communication, including signal generation, binary data modulation, and frequency analysis. A simulation framework is used to visualize the carrier signal, binary data, and the modulated backscatter signal, offering insights into both time-domain and frequency-domain characteristics. Performance evaluation is conducted by calculating key metrics such as Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) and Bit Error Rate (BER). The SNR values, varying per sample, are observed to range from 46.05 dB to 63.14 dB, indicating a high-quality signal transmission. BER value is 0.0 corresponding to SNR. These findings underscore the potential of backscatter communication in overcoming the limitations of traditional wireless systems, enabling ultra-low power consumption while maintaining reliable performance. The results highlight backscatter communication’s viability as a sustainable and scalable solution for next-generation wireless networks.
