Development of IOT and GPS Tracking Based Smart Blind Stick
This paper aims to assist blind individuals in a way that eliminates the necessity for human help. People with low vision often depend on a handheld stick for guidance. However, even with the stick, there is no assurance of safety, as obstacles can easily be overlooked. This paper outlines the design and development of a blind stick aimed at providing a safer and clearer path for its user. The stick used by the individual is integrated with several devices, As the user moves the stick forward, the ultrasonic sensor measures the distance to the closest object in its path. This data can assist the user in navigating their surroundings safely. If the ultrasonic sensor identifies an object within a specified distance, it can activate a warning signal, such as a sound or vibration, to alert the user to halt or alter their course. operated by an Arduino, senses barriers that might obstruct its route. If an obstacle is identified, it activates a response, with vibration and buzzer sound. Additionally, the fire sensor identifies any nearby fire hazards, ensuring the user's safety from potential fire risks. Furthermore, designed for convenience, the stick is both lightweight and user friendly, making it simple for blind individuals to carry and utilize. It is powered by a Lithium ion rechargeable battery, ensuring that it is always prepared for use without the hassle of changing batteries. The combination of obstacle detection, fire hazard alerts, GSM communication, and GPS tracking significantly strengthens the safety features of the stick, delivering supportive and user friendly assistance.
